Ceylinco General Insurance, Expolanka triumph at Mercantile football

The Mercantile Football Association (MFA) Knock-out Tournament 2023 came to a conclusion with the two Finals played last week at the City League Grounds, Slave Island, Colombo 2.

In the Division II Final, Ceylinco General Insurance beat Sri Lankan Airlines by two goals to nil., after leading 1-Nil at half time; the goal scores were, Heshan de Silva and Madushanka Sampath.

In the Division I Final that followed Expolanka Holdings beat HNB Assurance on penalties, 

(4-3); the scores were dead locked at 2-all at full time; Mohamed Aleen and Mohamed Asath scored for Expolanka whilst M. Nitharsan scored both goals for the HNB Assurance.

Special awards:

Division II : Man of the Final Heshan de Silva from Ceylinco and best Goal Keeper, Shan Ratnaweera from Sri Lankan Airlines.

Division I : Player of the Tournament M. Nitharsan from HNB Assurance and best Goal Keeper M.N. Imran from Expolanka Holdings. 

The Match Commissioner of the Tournament was Anton Atapattu.
