Experienced amateur golfer Chalitha Pushpika emerged as the leader after a remarkable two-under-par round at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) yesterday, playing for the selection of the top two golfers for the Bangladesh Amateur Tournament, which will take place at the end of this month.

Pushpika’s impressive performance secured him the top spot in the player list with an overall score of 142. He demonstrated precision and composure throughout the tournament.

Uchitha Ranasinghe secured second position with a total score of 144, closely trailing behind the leader.

In third spot was Chanaka Perera. After an ordinary start with a score of 77 he fought back to end on 146 but could be a yard slower in the selection process for the tour. Kumar Danushan and Jevahn Sathasivam were tied at 147, positioning themselves in a competitive fourth place. Meanwhile, Yannik Kumara, another bright prospect for the tour ended on 147 ending in sixth place.

Adithya Weerasighe, who showcased a promising 2-over-par 73 in the previous round, succumbed to pressure with an 8-over round, concluding with a score of 152.

Other golfers who teed off were Roshana Prasad, Kvahn Tejwani, Janeesh Weerasinghe and Thenuk Sathbidu. All of them ended in the bottom half of the two-day event.
