11th Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy

By Shamseer Jaleel

The 18-hole Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy annual golf tournament will take place at the beautiful Victoria Golf and Country Resort on 12 and 13 May with the tee off scheduled at 7 a.m. both days. This golf event was started in 2008, very first year Mark Holloway won the event. Chamara Abeyrathne will be defending his title which he won last year.

Voted as one of the 100 most beautiful courses in the world and number one in the Asian Subcontinent, the par 73, 6,974 yard championship course was designed in 1997 by the internationally acclaimed golf course architect Donald Steel to US P.G.A. standards.

Mark Bostock is the visionary behind the Victoria Golf Course, and its holding company, Rajawella Holdings Ltd. Bostock conceived the idea of a golf course in the centre of the island in the scenic area bordering the newly-built Victoria dam. This tournament is held in his memory and to celebrate all that is good about the game of golf.

The Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy is a blue ribbon golf tournament and a Board event at Victoria Golf & Country Resort. The tournament is held to remember Mark Bostock and linked to history and tradition of the golf course. This tournament is well established and has been supported throughout the years by both locals and overseas golfers.
