Chamari Athapaththu goes unsold at inaugural Women’s Premier League auction

Sri Lanka’s leading woman batter and National Team Cricket Captain Chamari Athapaththu was among some of the top women cricketers who went unsold at the inaugural 2023 Women’s Premier League auction that took place in Mumbai yesterday.

Chamari’s base price was INR 300,000 the same as that offered for team mates Anushka Sanjeewani and Inoka Ranaweera who also went unsold.

Hayley Mathews, Heather Knight, South African Captain Sune Luus, Laura Wolvaardt, Danni Wyatt, Sushma Verma and Megan Schutt were among the other top players who went unsold.

India’s Smriti Mandhana, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone and Natalie Sciver-Brunt were the most expensive players with a base price of INR 500,000 each.
