Chamika Gunasekara successfully appeals for LBW against Ripon Mondol |
Chamika Gunasekara who has appeared for Sri Lanka in one ODI narrowly missed out on capturing all ten wickets in an innings when he returned figures of 9/58 to bowl out Bangladesh Emerging team for 251 in the second unofficial 4-day test played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
The 23-year-old former Ananda College right-arm pacie took the first six wickets to fall reducing Bangladesh Emerging to 148-6. An 85-run stand between Akbar Ali (129 off 202 balls, 14 fours, 2 sixes) and Hasan Murad (27) lifted Bangladesh to 233. The partnership was broken by Chamindu Wickramasinghe when he had Murad caught behind – a wicket that deprived Gunasekara of all ten, for he went onto capture the remaining three wickets to have Bangladesh Emerging all out for 251.
Gunasekara was on a hat-trick when he took his seventh and eighth wickets sending back Ripon Mondol and Musfik Hasan for ducks before ending the innings with the wicket of top scorer Akbar Ali. Sri Lanka Emerging in reply made 219-7 when rain ended play for the third day.
