Chamodi Praboda named in ICC U19 Women’s T20 WC team

Chamodi Praboda, Sri Lanka’s 15-year-old slow left-arm orthodox spinner, has been selected for the Team of the Tournament at the end of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

Chamodi picked up nine wickets at an average of 6.33, including 3/16 against India. Sri Lanka finished third in the Super Six group behind winners India and Australia, whom they beat in their final match of the tournament.

The team is spearheaded by Player of the Tournament Gongadi Trisha, who scored 309 runs at the top of the order, 133 more than anyone else. Trisha was named Player of the Match in the final against South Africa after she took 3/15 with the ball, and then hit 44* as India sailed to a nine-wicket win.

She is joined in the team by fellow opener G. Kamalini, who scored 143 tournament runs, and bowlers Aayushi Shukla and Vaishnavi Sharma, the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 17.
