Channa Pathirana heads OTRS

Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage (OTRS) will once again see their 1989 second rower, Channa Pathirana, heading the Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage. Their Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place at the CR & FC, Old Club House at Longdon Place.

Channa Pathirana who played under Rohan Ranaraja and Bindu Dandeniya will have two Vice President, Ashan Ratwatte (1983) and Thakshala Hettiarchchi (1987 and 1988), top class athlete, rugby player and Ryde Gold Medalist Asanka Ranhotty will be Treasurer once more with Susikar Enoch coming in as the Secretary. 

Three youngsters who played in the last few years namely Lochana Girihagama, Rashen Bandaranayake and Ryle Madena join the committee. Ryle is former National Under 19 Skipper Denam Madena’s son while Rashen is the eldest son of 1987 crack centre Rajiv Bandaranyake. 

Their Head Coach and former All Blacks number 8 Rodney Soyalu will be back in the island in October to continue his coaching duties of the Kandy school.

Both Trinity and Royal will be playing their annual Bradby Shield encounter later in the year. Discussions are currently taking place between the two principals of the leading institutions in the country.
