Charani to become first female referee in schools A division

Charani Liyanage will become the first female referee to officiate an A-Division schools game between Thurstan College and Wesley College which will take place at Ratmalana on 22 June.

 Charani had her secondary education at Dematagoda St. Anthony’s Girls’ school and joined Sri Lanka Army in 2009.

She represented Sri Lanka in 2016. She became a member of the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees in 2022.

Charani and Ayesha officiated as Assistant Referees at the recently concluded Inter Club A division league tournament.
