Sri Lanka National Football team
Charith Ratnayaka and Harsha Fernando have been appointed to lead the Sri Lanka National Football team in their World Cup 2026 qualifying fixture against Yemen (1st leg and 2nd leg) which is to kick off in Abha, Saudi Arabia on 12 October.
With a view to grooming a suitable candidate to lead the national team, Football Sri Lanka (FSL) has opted to experiment with the above two dynamic players in the squad. Charith Ratnayaka representing Colombo FC has played a key role in their success as a defensive player, while Harsha Fernando, the former Air Force player, is another charismatic player who also plays in the same position. Both have donned the National jersey for quite some time.
Meanwhile, the Lankan camp will get the services of a few overseas players holding dual citizenship. The players include Waseem Razeek, brothers Sanjay and Kavin Anthony and Rajamohan Adhavan who will be available subject to international documents being approved.
Sri Lanka will take on Yemen on 12 October in Abha (1st leg) and 17 October (2nd leg) at the Race Course stadium in Colombo at 3.00 p.m.
