Cheethiya tipped to lead Sri Lanka Youth to Taipei

Former Joes winger Gemunu Cheethiya is tipped to lead the Sri Lanka Youth outfit at next month’s Junior Asian Rugby Tournament which will take place in Taipei between Sri Lanka, Taipei, Hong Kong and Korea.

Gemunu Cheethiya will lead a 25-member team under the watchful eyes of Dushantha Lewke, assisted by Mohamed Mustaq. Cheethiyas has represented the country in the Under-18 sevens, Under-29 fifteens and sevens, plus led the Under-18 outfit at the Youth Commonwealth games in the Bahamas. Currently, he is turning out for the Red Shirts in the Dialog League encounters.

The other 24 members will be finalised this weekend with the tour taking place mid-December. (SJ)
