Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last night cruised to its 10th IPL Final when it beat Gujarat Titans by 15 runs.
CSK’s R. Jadeja played a key role with figures of 2-18 after scoring 22 runs,
Batting first Four-time IPL winners CSK scored 172 for the loss of 7 wickets. In reply, Gujarat Titans were bowled out for 157.
For CSK, the opening pair R. Gaikwad and D. Conway put up 87 runs in 10.3 overs. Gaikwad scored 60 runs off 44 balls and Conway picked up 40 runs off 34 balls. The rest of CSK batters didn’t excel hence the low score.
Gujarat Titans highest scorer was S. Gill with 42 off 38 balls as the prolific batsman couldn’t live up to his IPL heroics including back to back centuries in the preceding two matches.
Rashid Khan scored 30 off 16 but with wickets being lost regularly CSK was on its way to victory.
Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana excelled with 2 for 28 and Matheesh Pathirana took 2 for 37. Deepak Chahar picked up 2 wickets for 29.
Gujarat, led by Hardik Pandya, will have another shot at making the final, which is on Sunday in Ahmedabad, when they take on the winner of the second play-off between Lucknow Super Giants and five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
