The much-looked forward Century plus years old Clifford Cup knock out rugby and the remaining matches of the Inter Club League encounters will be postponed due to the present situation in the country.
The Nippon Paint Inter Club ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament which was scheduled to resume on 14 May with Kandy Sports Club locking horns with CH and FC at Race Course rugby ground and the second placed Havelock Sports Club hosting the Cops at Havelock Park will be postponed to a future date which will be notified in the near future. Even the sponsors have written to SLR requesting for a postponement of the remaining league matches.
The final week’s matches will see CH and FC hosting Police at the Race Course rugby ground and Kandy SC and Havelock Sports Club at Havelock Park which is expected to be full house.
Once the completion of the League the Clifford Cup knock out encounters will take between the top eight teams with Kandy SC likely to play their matches at Nittawela Rugby Stadium.
The Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) suspension will be in force only for the Asia Rugby conducted tournaments. This will allow SLR to send teams for Commonwealth Rugby Sevens and Asian Games Sevens as both come under the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
