Defending league champions Kandy Sports Club will be in Colombo for their very first game this season when they will be hosted by CH&FC at Maitland Crescent.
On the same day later in the evening Havelocks will be hosting the cops at the park under lights.
Kandy Sports Club, which will be led by Gayan Weeraratne, will have almost the same players who turned out for them. Gayan played for Kingswood from 2005-2007, leading the outfit in the last year. He was an automatic choice for both the Fifteens and Sevens for the country. He also led Sri Lanka at the Under-20 level at the Taipei Asian Fifteens event.
Fazil Marija will be playing his last season for the Up Country club before hanging up his boots and taking up rugby coaching. They will have a start-studded outfit with Dhanushka Ranjan, Srinarth Sooriyabandara, Richard Dharmapala, Shehan Pathiran, Roshan Weeraratne, Dhanushka Dyan, Yakoob Ali, Shashika Jayawardena and Damith Dissanayake turning out for the champion outfit. Once again former Trinitian and Sri Lanka Fifteens skipper Sean Wijesinghe will be the head coach of the outfit.the fielding of overseas players is a big question awaiting an answer from Sri Lanka rugby.
