Colombo, Dambulla make winning starts

Colombo and Dambulla won their matches on the opening day of the Under-23 Women’s National Super League T20 tournament at the Galle Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Ashani Kawshalya’s powerful knock of 86 off 58 balls (10 fours, 1 six) and her opening partnership of 92 off 65 balls with Shikari de Silva (42 off 32 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) saw Colombo Women score 152-2 and beat Kandy Women (91) by 61 runs. Nethmi Sanjana took 3/11 for Colombo.

In a low scoring game Dambulla Women (83) squeezed out a 14-run win against Galle 

Women (69).
