Sri Lanka Super Provincial Cricket 2019

Colombo continued their unbeaten run in the Super Provincial Under 19 series, conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket, when they beat Dambulla by 61 runs in the final, which concluded at the Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Winning the toss, Colombo elected to bat first. Both skipper Kamil Mishara and A. Wickremasinghe put in fine centuries, which took them well over 300 runs in their 50 overs. Mishara scored 10 boundaries and six huge six’s in his elegant knock where he took complete command of the bowlers. Meanwhile Wickremasinghe got into top gear once Kamil got out. He too stroked 10 boundaries and one six in his unbeaten century. Both century makers put on 161 runs for the second wicket.

Dambulla fielding was a sorry sight as they missed as many as four catches plus in addition to other mistakes that cost them nearly 30 runs. To compensate, Dambulla went on a scoring spree getting the run rate on track but lost regular wickets which cost them the game. Even Lakshan Gamage and Dineth Jayakody, though scoring half ton, could not take them through as they lost regular wickets.
