Sri Lanka Air Force will host the CH & FC in their second leg of the Commanders Cup 2021 rugby encounter which will take place at the Air Force Ground – Ratmalana. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
Air Force placekicker/fly half Gayantha Iddamalgoda looks a doubtful starter for today’s encounter. In case he is not fit enough, Charith Seneviratne will take his place.
Speaking to Daily FT, Sri Lanka Air Force Head Coach Shamly Nawas said: “Boys are all out to have a good outing today. We had lot of encouragement from Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Rugby Chairman Group Captain Sudarshana Pathirana. Both of them spoke to the team soon after the last game. There were lot of positives coming out from game one though we ended on the losing side.
“Only injury worry is on Iddamalgoda and he is one of the best players in the outfit. But we have replacements with Charith coming in for him if need arises. Majority of these guys have not played rugby football at school but learnt the game after joining the forces. We need to play the full 80 minutes and look to the end. But all of them are a very determined lot and we want to safe keep the Commanders Cup in its very first year.”
