The Commanders Cup Rugby Tournament propped by Sri Lanka Air Force at the sports fiesta will kick off at 1 p.m. today at the Race Course rugby ground.
Day 2 and 3 of the competition will feature knockout matches on 17 and 18 August, at the same venue. Knock out encounter on the third day will be played for Cup, Plate plus Women’s encounters along with the schools’ games. Cash prizes and certificates are arranged for the winners. Further all three finals clubs (men’s and women’s) and school encounter will be played under lights.
Sri Lanka Air Force given the invitation to all leading clubs though Kandy SC missing out as many players nursing with injuries and not started training yet but its surprising omission are the new kids on the block, Sri Lions.
