Condor Golf Academy and Fitting Centre opened recently at Colombo 8 for the benefit of enthusiasts of the game and fitness in Colombo. Chief Guest was Sports Minister Harin Fernando.

The academy features high-tech equipment like TrackMan, GCQuad, and FlightScope. These tools were made possible through the efforts of Founder/Chairman the US-based Jason Liyanage and co-founders Nick Perera and Priyantha Athukorale.

TrackMan, a key feature of the academy, uses radar to analyse a golfer’s swing and ball flight.

Managing Director and top class golfer Mithun Perera said: “TrackMan is like a super-smart coach. It shows how far the ball goes, how fast it spins, and the angle it flies. It’s very detailed.”

Liyanage, the visionary behind bringing this technology to Sri Lanka, aims to make it accessible to underprivileged players. He has a deep connection to Sri Lanka and wants to give back to the sport.

Sales and Marketing Director Chanaka Perera is yet another top class golfer and Director Operations and Custom Fitting Specialist is Vinod Kumar.

The project has support from key figures in the Sri Lankan golf community, including Sri Lanka Golf President Ranil Pieris and Royal Colombo Golf Club Captain Amrith de Soysa. The academy will offer free services to underprivileged children, making golf more accessible.
