Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced their 26-member team for the Under19 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies, which will take place in the early part of 2022. Three players each from St. Anthony’s, Katugastota, and Trinity College, along with one player from St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy, were selected. This is the first time seven players have been selected from the Hills.
These players were selected from the warm-up matches which took place at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium and the Asgiriya Stadium one month ago, between 75 players who were grouped in to five teams. The Central Province team was coached by former Trinity Lion and national player Sachith Pathirana, with Amila Pinnaduwa assisting him along with district coaching staff Harsha Udara, Ananda Bandaranayake, Jagath Wasantha, Ajith Bandara and Migara Ekanayake. The sessions were coordinated by the Central Province Cricket Association (CPCA) Secretary Janaka Pathirana, supported by Sunil Wickremanayake and Lakshaman Panditharatne.
The selected players from the Central Province are:
Pawan Pathiraja, Matheesha Pathirana, Vibahavith Ehelapola (Trinity College), Trevin Mathews, Chamidu Wickramasinghe, Lahiru Abeysinghe (St. Anthony’s) and Maleesha Silva (St Sylvester’s)
