D.S. Senanayake College continued their unbeaten run when they got the better of Wesley outfit 29/20 in one of their Dialog Schools Rugby League 2023 under-19 encounter which was worked off at the Royal Sports Complex.
DS led 12/3 at the short breather.
D.S. being promoted from lower division along with Zahira both showing lot of promise with the way they played their game this season. D.S. earlier defeated Antonians at Pallekelle while the Wesley outfit going through a tough start losing out to S. Thomas and Joes in their earlier encounters.
Darrian de Silva put over an early penalty for Wesley but D.S. hit back through Peiris try and Umagilliyage conversion. D.S. went further ahead through their second try scored by Jayathu Rajaratne, D.S. skipper had a grand game. He scored a magnificent solo try covering nearly 50 meters with dummying a few a kick and chase and touched down on time before the ball passes the dead line.
Yasavi Ratnasiri scored for D.S. after the turn around. Shehanda Umagiliyage missed the kick at goal. Sethuna Pieris went over for Wesley first try. After other forwards rush stocky Sabith Musheen went over for their second try. Darrian de Silva added the extras. Minutes later D.S. skipper, Rajaratne initiated another move which ended in Umagilliyage touching down.
Wesley had plenty of opportunities for a comeback but their indesipline let them down badly. They received a yellow offence and a hat trick of tries by D.S. skipper Rajaratne held them to secure the bonus point win.
