D.S. Senanayake College continued their giant killing performance when they registered their third win this season when they edged out a gallant Kingswoodian outfit by 31 points (4 tries, 4 conversions, 1 penalty) to 27 points (4 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) in their Schools Under-19 Dialog Rugby League encounter which concluded at Havelock Park last evening.
At the short breather it was one horse race with the Colombo school leading 21/7.
It was clearly one sided affair in the first half as the DS outfit had clear lead over their opponents who looked all over the Park. DS going through one of the best seasons already beating Antonians, Wesley and Kingswood now they look a yard faster in approaching for round 2 along with the defending champions, Isipathana College.
After the turn around Kingswood played some cohesive rugby to make a strong comeback scoring 20 points against D.S. Senanayake’s 10 points. Manura Peiris and Janidu Wijerathne stood out for the winners with some attacking rugby while it was once again Kingswood skipper, Imanka Ishara and his deputy, Ishan Inoon being outstanding both in attack as well in defence for the losers who are yet to register a win in their four outings. Actually the Randles Hill outfit missed out on a try knocking it on the try line in the later half.
DS scored their tries through Menura Peiris (3) and skipper, Jayathu Rajaratna with Janidu Wijerathne on target with all 4 kick at goal plus a useful penalty contributing 11 points for the Dons while Kingswood scored their tries through Siku Rajathapathi, Ishan Inoon (2) and Hewage with Imanka Ishara converting two of the try conversions and putting over a solitary penalty.
Referee was Aruna Shantha.
