Dambulla Women led by Sri Lanka U19 cricketer Vidushika Perera crowned themselves NSL Women’s U23 T20 champions when they defeated Colombo Women by four wickets in the final played at the Galle Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Colombo captained by Sri Lanka U19 skipper Manudi Nanayakkara could muster only 98-7 in their 20 overs after being invited to bat first by Dambulla.

Opener Shikari de Silva made a top score of 25 off 29 balls (2 fours, 1 six) for Colombo against the seam and spin of Harini Perera (2/12) and Vidushika Perera (3/24) respectively.

Dambulla in their run chase did not have it easy, their batting collapsing from 40-1 in the first power play to 62-6 in 12 overs.

However, Limmy Thilakaratne (21* off 25 balls, 3 fours) and captain Vidushika Perera (14* off 15 balls) took them safely over the line in an unbroken 37-run partnership. Vimoksha Balasooriya contributed 27 off 22 balls (4 fours, 1 six) from the top order.

Left-armer Hashini Liyanage (3/20) and leg-spinner Tharushi Thathsarani (2/20) were the chief wicket-takers for Colombo.
