Dambulla emerge champions in hopelessly one-sided final

In a hopelessly one-sided contest Dambulla beat Colombo by seven wickets to win the National Super League Women’s Limited Overs final played at the Colts grounds yesterday.

Winning the toss Dambulla led by national women’s cricketer Harshitha Samarawickrama inserted Colombo in first and dismissed them for a paltry 66 in 25.3 overs. Dambulla knocked the runs off in 12.2 overs to crown themselves champions.

Match winner for Dambulla was 16-year-old right-arm seamer Manudi Nanayakkara who ran through the Colombo batting to finish with figures of 5/18. She received excellent support from left-arm spinner Nimasha Madushani (3/13) and fast bowler Sathya Sandeepani (2/12).The awards were presented by Sri Lanka Women cricketers head coach Rumesh Ratnayake and national selector/women’s cricket mentoring and development consultant Rasanjali de Alwis.
