Dambulla pick up Rs. 2 m as NSL 50-over champions

Champions Dambulla

Dambulla led by Minod Bhanuka retained the National Super League 50-over title when they defeated Kandy by 19 runs in the final played at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Sunday.

As winners Dambulla received a cheque for Rs. 2 million while Kandy as runner-up received Rs. 1 million.

Pavan Ratnayake of Dambulla was adjudged Player of the Final for his century and received a cheque for Rs. 75,000, while Janith Liyanage of Jaffna was adjudged the Player of the Tournament and received a cheque for Rs. 300,000.

Other individual awards were Best Batsman of the Tournament (Rs. 150,000) won by Shehan Fernando of Galle and Best Bowler of the Tournament (Rs. 150,000) won by Lahiru Kumara of Kandy. The awards were presented by Tournament Committee chairman Samantha Dodanwela and SLC Head of National Cricket Operations Chintaka Edirimanne.
