Former Trinity centre and the highest try-scorer for the outfit, Dilukshan Dange, will make his Kandy Sports Club debut when he represents the upcountry outfit in their West Asia Club Championship 2017 encounter against the Abu Dhabi Harlequins today.
Kick-off is scheduled for 4.00 p.m. at Nittawela. Kandy will be without their entire three-quarter line due to injuries plus national Sevens commitments with four players in the Asian Sevens pool preparing for action in South Korea next week.
Also making his Kandy debut will be former Kingswood and Joes player, national youth fullback Chathura Seneviratne, who is returning back to his hometown club. Jansen and Ranaweera, who both represented the Randles Hill School, will also join the Kandy club this season.
Kandy’s regular skipper Gayan Weeraratne is nursing a knee injury so the team’s leadership will be taken over by former Trinity Hooker Damith Dissnayake. Kandy will be coached by Sean Wijesinghe with Kapila Silva managing the team.
