Shevon Daniel led Sri Lanka’s reply with an undefeated 92

Prolific run scorer for St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and Sri Lanka U-19 Shevon Daniel hit an unbeaten 92 to lead Sri Lanka’s response to England’s first innings of 381 on the second day of the second four-day Under-19 Youth test at Derby County grounds, Derbyshire.

Sri Lanka finished the day strongly placed on 203-2, to trail England by 178 runs with eight wickets in hand. Daniel who has so far hit 15 fours in his 149-ball knock figured in two lucrative stands of 116 for the second wicket with debutant Abisheak Liyanaarachchi (49) and an unfinished 77 for the third with Pawan Pathiraja (37*).

Earlier England resumed at their overnight total of 268-4 were dismissed for 381 with Harry Singh completing a dour century – 104 off 304 balls (6 fours). Right-arm pacie Sahan Mihira who took the wickets of the two centurions finished with two for 75 on his U-19 debut.   

Sri Lanka led the two-match series 1-0 having won the first test by three wickets.
