Debutant Fairfirst Insurance inflict first defeat for HNB

Debutants Fairfirst Insurance inflicted the first defeat on HNB (after three wins on the trot) in the ongoing 30th Singer MCA Super Premier League 2023, which continued on Saturday, 22 April.

In a match reduced to 43 overs-a-side, due to wet ground conditions, Fairfirst Insurance beat HNB by 73 runs on the DLS method.

The match winner for Fairfirst Insurance was Asel Sigera, who top scored with a classic 82 not out, in 61 balls, inclusive of 4 sixes and 6 fours and a brilliant spell of bowling by Thanuka Dabare, who finished with 05 for 46 in 09 overs.

In a low-scoring game, Hayleys Group helped by a magnificent spell of off-spin bowling by T.M. Sampath (7.5 – 13 – 06), beat CDB Finance by 69 runs.
