Debutants, turned giant killers, C.L. Synergy will be all at Sea, when they take on the fancied, Hayleys Group in the 30th Singer –MCA Super Premier League “Knock-out” Final 2023, this Saturday, 20 May at the MCA grounds, commencing 10.00 am.
Hayleys finished 02nd in the “League” points table, losing 02 games, one of them to CL Synergy by 76 runs.
The finalist entered the Final quite convincingly, C.L. Synergy (League No. 04) eliminating Fairfirst Insurance (League No. 01) by 08 wickets and Hayleys (League No 02) beating CDB Finance (League No. 03) by 07 wickets. Hayley’s led by Avishka Fernando, while seeking sweet revenge on their opponents will be looking forward to win title for the first time, since they entered to the MCA big League in 2018.
Hayleys have enough and more fire power to achieve this; topping the list is their new recruit, Sri Lanka’s top spinner, Prabath Jayasuriya (who holds the record of bagging 50 wickets in 07 tests, reaching the mark in fewer matches than any other spinner in test Cricket), young paceman, Santhush Gunatillake and their top order batsman in topping form, Ron Chandraguptha, TM Dilshan, Lahiru Samarakoon, Nawanidu Fernando and Ashen Bandara.
C.L. Synergy led by 22 year old, Sonal Dinusha Gamage will hope to a repeat performance by their bowlers, namely Isuru Udana, Sudeera Thilakaratne and Sahan Arachchige, who performed brilliantly in the semi-finals, and also on Navod Paranavithana, to make a dent in the Hayleys batting armoury; much will depend on their openers, Navod Paranavitana and Chamindu Wickramasinghe to make a solid start.
The MCA appointed Match Referee is Wendall La Brooy.
