Defending Knockout champs Police meet CR today

Defending Clifford Cup champions Police SC will take on CR & FC in a must-win quarter-final encounter at Longdon Place today (28 March).

Kick-off is at 4 p.m.

CR & FC, who finished third in the League, will enter the contest with confidence and are the favoured team to progress further to the semis. They already beat Police SC in their League meeting earlier this season.

However, like many teams at this stage, they are dealing with injury concerns. Despite this, CR will field their best available line-up, ensuring they maintain their competitive edge while managing player workload strategically. They are led by former Science player Lasindu Karunathilake, with some outstanding players such as Mursheed Doray and Adheesha Weerathunge in the outfit. Police SC, determined to defend their title, will look to turn the tables on the Reds. Although they had a challenging League campaign, knockout rugby presents a fresh opportunity, and they will be eager to prove their mettle. Their physicality and experience in high-pressure games could be key factors in their quest to retain the Clifford Cup. Led by Mohan Wimalaratne and well supported by Amjad Fawmy, Heshan Kalhara, and Nareen Kanishka, the Cops are all out to move forward to the semi spot.

The winner of this encounter will face the Havies vs. Army winner at the semi-finals on 2 April.
