Defending champions Tamil Union regained the top spot in Group A of the SLC Limited-Over inter-club tournament with a 140-run thrashing of Saracens SC at the P. Sara Oval yesterday.
Sithara Hapuhinna (51) and former Sri Lanka cricketer Dilruwan Perera (75) put on an opening stand of 76 for Tamil Union to total 260. Saracens SC were shot out for 120 falling to the spin of Dilum Sudeera (4/32) and Dilruwan Perera (3/35).
Tamil Union and Moors SC are tied on 15 points after six matches with only net run rate separating the two teams.
Ace Capital CC also improved their position in Group A with a 20-run win over Badureliya SC at Maggona. A half-century from Sakuna Liyanage (61) and his 73-run stand for the eighth wicket with Amitha Dabare (41) saw Ace Capital CC recover from a shaky 125-7 to post a decent total of 234. Badureliya SC were dismissed for 214. Ace Capital CC tied with SSC on 13 points for third and fourth positions. (ST)
