The third day of the Sri Lanka Golf National Ranking Championship June 2024 witnessed a thrilling turnaround as Dhanaranjan from Victoria Golf resort (VGR) carded with an impressive 1-over-par round. He topped the leader board with a collective score of 222, setting the stage for a much looked forward day 4 today (20 June).

Dhanaranjan playing some top class golf in one of the toughest conditions in the Hill Country course with his closest rival, Uchitha Ranasinghe. Ranasinghe, who led after the second day, faced a challenging round, finishing with a 9-over-par, resulting in a total score of 223. This slip allowed Dhanaranjan to seize the lead by a mere stroke.

The tournament remains highly competitive as the top five players are separated by just ten strokes, with each vying for the championship title. Haroon Aslam sits in third place with a score of 225, while Chalitha Pushpika holds onto fourth with 226. Youngster Reshan Algama maintains his fifth position, ending the day with a score of 232.

With just one stroke separating the top two and only four strokes separating the top three, the final day promises intense competition. The challenging conditions at Nuwara Eliya Golf Course, particularly the tricky putting greens, are expected to play a critical role in determining the winner.

Chanaka Perera delivered a steady performance, finishing in sixth place with a total score of 235. Yannik Kumara, who had a challenging second day, bounced back beautifully to secure seventh place with a score of 239. S. Dhuwarshan follows in eighth place at 240, with Jevahn Sathasivam closely behind at 241. PSDU Kumara rounds out the top ten with a score of 242.
