Isipathana player wins the ball in line out
Thomians pulled off a magnificent 35/19 win over Vidyartha in their Dialog President Trophy Knockout rugby encounter which was worked off at Havelock park last weekend.
At the short breather winners led 21/7.
Thomians drew first blood through their dashing winger Jaden Koch which was converted by Yehan Bulathsinghalage. Umandha Seneviratne replied with a try for Vidyartha outfit which was goaled by Menuka Thilakaratne.
Shenal Perera and Reshane Dwight try each with accurate conversions by Bulathsinhalage took the Mount Lavinia lads to a commanding 21/7 lead at the short breather.
After the turn around Malith Perera the nippy scrum half who had a grand outing scored through an individual brilliant. Their last try was scored by Shehan Selvanayagam with Bulathsinghalage adding the extras to take 35/7 lead.
Vidyartha College made a gallant comeback with two back-to-back tries scored by Nipun Weerasinghe and Deshan Balasuriya. Menuka Thilakratne did the conversion.
Referee was Kelum Sadaruwan.
Isipathana College continued their domination in schools rugby when they handed off Rajans with an easy 38/6 win in their President Trophy knockout rugby encounter which was concluded at the Royal Sports Complex last weekend.
Isipathana scored their tries through M. Rashminda, Dodangoda (2) and Boteju once. Boteju converted four of the tries.
Meanwhile Rajans put over two penalties by Saumya Wijesiri.
Referee was Raveen Alexander.
