The Dialog Rugby League comes alive on 4 November at Maitland Crescent, as last year’s champs Kandy scrum down against CH&FC at 4.00 p.m. to battle it out for supremacy in the 2017/18 season-opening game.
Sri Lanka’s top eight clubs will battle it out for the coveted championship title, the Dialog Rugby League ‘A’ Division crown, and thereafter the prestigious Dialog Clifford Cup knockout tournament.
The teams that will fight for the Dialog Rugby 2017/18 League will include last year’s League and Clifford Cup champs Kandy, CR&FC, CH&FC, Havelocks, Police, Army, Navy and Air Force.
The 2016/17 season saw Kandy put on a powerful performance to edge out Colombo favourites Havelocks to retain the championship for the third consecutive year.
This is Dialog’s sixth year in connection with the League and Clifford Cup knockout competitions which see a passionate following among the young and old in Sri Lanka. Dialog is also closely associated with developing cricket, rugby, football, volleyball and disabled sports and has sponsored national contingents to international events including the Paralympics.
During the season select matches can be watched live on Dialog Now on Dialog Television, MyTV via mobile and on www.thepapare.com.
