Seven games will be down for decision in the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2024 with two matches in the hill capital and the remaining five being worked off in Colombo today.

The pick of the encounter will be one between Trinity College and S. Thomas’ College at Pallekele. This will be played for the Canon De Saram Trophy encounter.

The Canon De Saram Shield first entered the fray in 1978, adding even more prestige to this storied encounter. Trinity College holds the edge in the series, having won 26 of the previous 45 matches, including a 31/20 victory last year at their home ground in Mt. Lavinia. S. Thomas’ College, however, will be eager to even the score and reclaim the trophy after missing out in 2023.

The 2024 edition will see Trinity looking to their experienced captain and number eight, while S. Thomas’ College will rely on their powerful forward pack to lay the foundation. The match is sure to be a show of the best that schoolboy rugby in Sri Lanka has to offer. Both teams are well balanced, possessing a lightning fast three-quarter outfit.

Trinity College is led by Anuhas Kodithuwakku with Fazil Marija coaching the outfit while Thomians are led by Bulathsinghalage with Anura Walpola heading the coaching unit.
