Dialog extends its score with National Paralympic Committee

Dialog Axiata PLC, has renewed its commitment to powering parasports in Sri Lanka by extending its two-decade old partnership with the National Paralympic Committee for a further two years.

Dialog Axiata first entered into a partnership with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) in 2000 and in the last twenty-two years has continued its support by powering Sri Lanka’s Paralympians at the Army Para Games, National Para Games and the Sri Lanka contingent to the World Paralympic Games.

Sri Lanka’s Paralympians have been performing consistently on the international stage. Dinesh Priyantha secured Sri Lanka’s first Gold at a Summer Paralympic Game when he broke the world record for a javelin throw (T46) with 67.79 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Games. His teammate Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku, also from the Sri Lanka Army, shortly after secured Bronze on a personal best distance of 65.61 meters in the F64 javelin event.

The first Sri Lanka Paralympian to strike metal was Pradeep Sanjaya, who scored a Bronze in the 400M (T46) sprint with a time of 49.28 seconds at the 2012 London Games. “Sri Lanka’s Paralympians have come a long way and our achievements at the 2020 Tokyo Games pays testament to that,” National Paralympic Committee President Lt. Col. Deepal Herath said. “I would like to thank our long-term partner Dialog Axiata for believing in our Paralympians and supporting them to deliver at the world stage. We are indeed honoured that Dialog continues to be by our side for the foreseeable future as well.”
