Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, Dialog Axiata PLC, extends sponsorship for the 10th time since the inception of the annual cricket encounter, the ‘Battle of the Golds’, contested between arch rivals, D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo, and Mahanama College, Colombo.
The 2019 edition of ‘Battle of the Golds’, as tradition, will be played at the P. Sara Oval, Colombo tomorrow and on Saturday, while the much-looked-forwarded-to 50 overs game will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 6 April. The boys from Duplication Road will be led by left arm paceman Pathum Botheju, while the lads from Gregory’s Road will be under the captaincy of all-rounder Pasindhu Aditya.
All-rounders Sonal Gamage and Pawan Rathnayake from Mahanama College and Muditha Lakshan from D. S. Senanayake College – who has already scored over 1,300 runs in the school’s season – have represented Sri Lanka in U-19 cricket.
The tally between the two schools at present stands at one win for D. S. Senanayake College and Mahanama College is yet to take the silverware to the principal’s trophy cabinet. D. S. Senanayake College last won the big match in 2014 under skipper Sri Lankan Captain Binura Fernando.
