National Para team on the eve of leaving to Dubai, UAE for World Para Athletics FAZZA GP 2023
Dialog Axiata has come forth to power the National Paralympic contingent comprising four athletes who will be competing at the on-going World Para Athletics FAZZA Grand Prix from 26 February to 1 March 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The World Para Athletics FAZZA Grand Prix is the qualifier for Paralympics athletes to compete at the World Para Athletics Championship 2023 to be held in Paris, France.
The Sri Lanka contingent will compromise four athletes which includes Nuwandika Indika - 100M and Long Jump (T44), Saman Subhasinha - 100M and 400M (T47), Pradeep Somasiri - 1,500M (T47) and Anila Prasanna Jayalath - 100M and Long Jump (T42) and will also include two officials, Team Manager Brigadier P.R.B.A. Bandara and Coach P.D.R. Sumantha.
The highly competitive tourney is expected to attract over 650 athletes from 67 countries.
Sri Lanka has fielded Paralympians who have performed amicably in the local trials recently and members from the high-performance pool.
