The 12 member Sri Lanka youth netball team (U-21) left Sri Lanka shores on 6 June to vie for top honours at the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2023 which is scheduled to be played in South Korea from 17 June to 20 June.
The National Youth team will be led by the goal shooter, Sajini Rathnayaka and Sri Lanka, who are competing in Group B will play their games against Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan, South Korea and Pakistan while Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, India and Maldives will compete under Pool ‘A’.
Sri Lanka National Youth Team will play their first game against Korea on 11 June and will continue to play against Brunei on 12 June, Singapore on 13 June and Chinese Taipei on 14 June to secure spot in the k/o stage of the tourney.
According to the history of Youth Asian netball competitions, Sri Lanka has won the Asian youth netball championship in the year 1998, 2002 and 2015.
