Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne who is signed with English county Yorkshire to play in the ongoing season is set to make his appearance in Australia for Endeavours Hills Cricket Club that plays

in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association, the second tier of cricket in the State.

Karunaratne who is currently leading Sri Lanka in the two-Test series in Bangladesh is expected to join the club in September after the home Test series against Australia and Pakistan. Endeavours Hills CC tweeted: “TEST CAPTAIN JOINS THE EAGLES. We are thrilled to announce the signing of current SriLankan test captain @dimuthk_123 Dimuth is one of the best opening batsman in world cricket at the moment and is currently ranked no 6 in the world. He has also been selected into the ICC team of the year, we cannot wait to have someone of his quality join the eagles.”

In another tweet the club said: “Quality over quantity. Welcome champ.”

Former Sri Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga and Lahiru Thirimanne appeared for the club last season.

Karunaratne was also the recipient of the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year 2021 Cap having scored 902 runs last year in seven Tests at an average of 69.38 with four centuries. (ST)
