Sri Lanka’s Test Captain Dhananjaya de Silva said that it was very disappointing to play only 4 Test matches for the year 2025.

Sri Lanka are scheduled to play two Tests against Australia which belongs to the previous World Test Championship cycle 2023-25 and two Tests against Bangladesh at the start of the new WTC cycle 2025-27 during the year.

“It’s disappointing but that’s not in our hands. We are trying to see whether a window is open for us to play a series. We have a good side and Sri Lanka Cricket is doing their best to give us some opportunities. What we can do is to perform well from opportunities we get and prove ourselves,” said De Silva. Earlier, former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews expressed concern over the limited number of Test matches scheduled for his team in 2025 and called the ICC to address the imbalance in international scheduling. – [ST]
