Sanjeewa Wickremanayake will defend his title at the Donald Steel Trophy Golf Tournament 2020 which will be worked off at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) today.

Sixteen-year-old school boy from the Central Hills, Haroon Aslam too will be a strong contender for the big prize with his consistent performances in the recent past in the Nuwara Eliya event.

This year too there will be more than 70 players teeing off for honours at this blue ribbon of the golf calendar in the country.

The award-winning Donald Steel designed masterpiece sprawled amongst the hills and bordering the Victoria reservoir offers the most picturesque scenery and breath taking views of nature.

Proud winner of the award for ‘The Best Golf Course in the Sub-Continent’ on no less than nine occasions by the Asian Golf Monthly, the 73 par, 6933-yard championship 18-hole golf course is designed to international USGA standards.

Majestically crafted with beautiful fairways lined with trees, the flowering shrubs and light rough, adds to the beauty of the course, whilst also making it a challenging one. Additionally, the surrounding landscape with its incomparable Knuckles mountain range and the still waters of the vast Victoria reservoir create an awe-inspiring atmosphere of magnificence, peace and tranquillity.
