Youngster Kumar Danushan was in sensational form winning the Donald Steel Trophy 2025 at one of the Sri Lanka’s most prestigious golfing events, a Board event which concluded successfully at the Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella recently.
Over 120 golfers teed off at this event. Named after the legendary golf course architect Donald Steel, the tournament brought together some of the finest golfers from across the country and beyond, competing for top honours in various categories.
In the Seniors’ Division, Christy Thornton claimed victory in the Gents category securing the prestigious Machie Niblick Trophy while Mel Williams finished as the runner-up. In the Ladies segment M.C. Selliayah took the Brassie Trophy followed by Alenka Jelnikar who finished runner-up.
The GM’s Trophy saw Chris Benjamin emerge victorious in the Ladies segment while Rudrani Devidas secured runner -up.
Among the Gents Shrimal Abeykoon took home the trophy while Mahesh Wijeratne ended as runner up.
In the nett segment K.M.M.P. Karunathilake won pushing Sathis Balasubramaniam to runner up position. In the Ladies event Niloo Jayathilake securing the Victoria Bowl while Manorial Jayakody ended runner up.
