Sri Lanka’s top junior girls’ golfer, Kaya Daluwatta made a sensational start at the Thai Singha World Junior Golf Championship, taking an early lead with a 3-under-par round of 69 yesterday in Thailand.
Day one saw Kaya shining on the course with an eagle and five birdies, securing her a solid position as the championship’s front-runner.
She was closely trailed by Thailand’s Chuc An Lee, who finished at 1-under-par 71, and Allyson, who wrapped up the day at 2-over-par 74.
While the Sri Lankan boys’ team faced a rough start, they remained hopeful with three days of competition ahead. Reshan Algama finished with an 11-over-par score of 83, while Jacob Norton completed his round at 10-over-par, carding an 82.
In the boys’ division, Sweden’s Theodore Kruss finished at 1-under-par, leading the pack as the only player in his category to finish below par on day one. (SJ)
