Dialog Sri Lanka Open Golf Championship 2023 was worked off on its first day at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) in Colombo yesterday with veteran, Anura Rohana taking the lead in the first round with 67 points.
Mane Uayan (India) ended on number 2 while there were 5 players on 68 points apiece tied for the 3rd place. Among them were Hossain Jamal (Bangladesh), Chalitha Pushpika, Chanaka Perera, Reshan Algama and K. Prabagaran.
Reshan Algama, a 15-year-old golfing sensation after his recent success in the Philippines made his mark at one of the most important professional tournaments in Sri Lanka and is turning heads with his outstanding performance. The young amateur finished joint 2nd with a fantastic 3 under par, which included an impressive eagle 3 on the 7th hole and a birdie on the 8th.
There were some class acts across the region, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Australia, and Singapore players showing their acts at this event which saw more than 125 golfers teeing off in the opening day.
The cut which will be based on the first two days of scores will be made on day 2 (today).
