Emerging Schools Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year and Best Batsman Raveen Yasas of Devapathiraja College, Rathgama, is a highly experienced fifth-year Coloursman who has also played in the Provincial tournament and the Premier League; a keen student of the game whose contributions were instrumental in no small measure, for the school being promoted to Division I in 2018/19.
An elegant and stylish left-handed batsman Yasas was a prolific scorer in the concluded season, with 1303 runs which included three centuries and eight half-centuries, while narrowly missing out on a triple ton by four runs (296) against Karandeniya Central College. He has also captured over 25 wickets with his orthodox left-arm spinners. Under his leadership last year, he led by example, and in so doing, was able to get the best out of his team. He showed very early promise, when he led the Under (U)-13, U-15 and the first XI teams. Yasas has the distinction of leading the Southern Province U-15 team and was a member of the Sri Lanka U-15 team that toured Malaysia in 2014.
His disciplined dedication, commitment, and sacrifice to the game have been justly rewarded with his selection as the Emerging Schools Schoolboy Cricketer and Best Batsman in the Dialog Schoolboy Cricketer Contest 2018.
This outstanding cricketer’s dream is to bring glory to his alma mater, by donning the national blazer and give his best to his motherland.
