England Lions name squad for Sri Lanka tour opener

A 12-man England Lions squad has been named for the four-day match against Sri Lanka at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

Kasey Aldridge, Lyndon James, Ollie Price, and James Rew are due to join a strong squad after they were all part of the England Lions set-up during the winter.

England Men Under-19s quartet Farhan Ahmed, Eddie Jack, Ben McKinney, and Hamza Shaikh are also included after the recent Young Lions home series against Sri Lanka. Gloucestershire’s Zaman Akhter, who is a graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy, earns his first call-up to the Lions.

The match begins on Wednesday, 14 August.

This will be Sri Lanka’s only practice match before the three-Test series against England commences on 21 August at Manchester.
