Ershan to lead Sri Lanka ‘A’ at 8th Lawyers World Cup

Ershan Ariaratnam will lead the experienced Sri Lanka Lawyers ‘A’ team at the 8th Lawyers World Cup which kicks off at five venues in Colombo on Friday.

Of the 19 players in the squad, 10 have represented Sri Lanka at the Lawyers Cricket World Cup before. Asela Patabendi has the distinction of playing in all seven previous world cups!

Ershan has represented Sri Lanka Lawyers at five previous tournaments held in Barbados (2011), New Delhi (2013), Brisbane (2015/16), Colombo (2017) and Hamilton (2019). Ershan has the services of Kasun Hettiarachchi as his deputy. Kasun has played in two previous world cups.

Sri Lanka Lawyers have taken part in all seven previous tournaments becoming runners up in the 2011, 2017 and 2019 editions and would go all out to win the 8th edition at home.

The Sri Lanka Lawyers ‘A’ team will be selected from: Ershan Ariaratnam (Captain), Kasun Hettiarachchi (Vice-Captain), Thusith Paliwatta, Yohan Jinasena, Asela Patabendi, Pavithra Bolapage, Randeepa Wijesuriya, Tharindu Peris, Kulunu Rodrigo, Wishwa Wijesuriya, Thusitha Ranathunga, Shanmugampillai Jetharshan, Gihan Rathnayake, Mohamed Shamir, Sachithra Tennakioon, Tharma Kulasingam Anjanan, Sisuru Samarasinghe, Akila Jayasundera, and Gayan Sirisoma.
