The game of golf is not over until it’s over as proved by J.M.D. Indika who produced a scintillating round of 5 under par 68 in near perfect conditions at the beautiful Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy.
He started perfectly with 2 birdies in the first 2 holes followed by 4 more birdies over the next 9 holes to be 6 under par without any blemishes upto that point. His only bogey for the round cost him the chance to tie for first place with Sisira Kumara who had a bad day with a 5 over par 78, but was good enough to hold on by one stroke to win the first edition in 2018 of the UTE Engineering Pin Fernando Golf Grand Prix.
Chanaka Perera who was showing a lot of promise by improving his score each day over the last three days failed to maintain the momentum and ended the final day with a 3 over par to slip into third position while Amarapadma also had a bad finale to be pushed to the 4th spot.
