Expolanka, HNB advance to MCA F Division 25 Over League final

Expolanka Holdings and HNB “B” advanced to the Final of the 5th Fairfirst Insurance sponsored – MCA “F” division 25 Over League Tournament 2023, winning their Semi Finals, played on Easter Sunday on 9 April.

In the top half Semi-Final at MCA, Expolanka Holdings helped by a fighting knock by Heshan Hewanayake (42 in 32 balls inclusive of 4 fours) and hostile spell of pace bowling and L. Speering (3 for 23) ,coasted to a 21 runs win over Astron Lanka.

In the bottom half Semi Final at Thurstan, HNB “B” hung on to a 3 run win over 3DH International.

Fancied HNB “B” batting first were restricted to 139 for 9 in 25 overs by the disciplined bowling attack of E. Bandara (3 for 19), Vihanga Gunasekera (2 for 32) and Roscoe Thettil (2 for 34).

Once again the bowlers dominated, as HNB’s S. Palihapitiya (4 for 20) and Dinesh Panditharatne (3 for 35) put the shackles on 3DH International, who fell at the post short by 3 runs – 136 for 9 in 25 overs.

The tournament will now take break and the Final, between Expolanka Holdings vs. HNB “B” will be played on Saturday 22 April at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10.00 am.
