Expolanka to meet Fairfirst Insurance at finals

Expolanka Holdings will meet Fairfirst Insurance in the Mercantile Football Association (MFA) “Knock-out” Tournament 2022 Final on Friday, 20 January at the City League, Grounds, Slave Island, Colombo 02, commencing 3.00 p.m.

Earlier on, Expolanka Holdings won the MFA League Division One title while Fairfirst Insurance won the MFA League Division Two title.

Prior to the final, HNB will meet Ceylinco General Insurance in the play off for the third place, at 2.00 p.m.

The semi-finals were played on 17 and 18 January at the City League Grounds. 

In the first semi-final, Fairfirst Insurance scored a hard fought 2/1 win over HNB; At half time it was nil all; The winning Goal for Fairfirst Insurance was scored in the 76th minute by I.M. Safran.

In the second semi-final, Expolanka Holdings scored a comprehensive, 6/2 win over Ceylinco General Insurance, after leading 2/1 at half time. The goal scorers for Expolanka were M.R. Mohideen (03), T. Roshan, M.R.M. Farzan and Aqeeb Faizar (one goal each). 

S.A. Raymond and N. Abeykoon scored for Ceylinco.
